It’s not an option

Did you know that it is now the law to have a smoke alarm in your home? It has been mandatory to have a working smoke alarm on every level of your property since 2006, but there are still some properties that fail to meet this standard. It doesn’t mater if you own the property or are renting it, or what the purpose of the property is (be it residential or work related) the rules apply to everyone. (Smoke alarms are also commonly but mistakenly referred to as “fire alarms” or “smoke detectors”)

Smoke alarms save lives, and thus offer a life saving benefit to all of us. While we sleep in particular, they detect smoke from a fire well before we would otherwise be aware of a fire in the building (if at all) and alerts the residence with a loud alarm. This way you can dramatically reduce the risk of smoke damage to your lungs, injury, and even death to you and your household.

And did you know that you can rent alarms? Sure, just put in a search on the Internet to see if there are any local businesses in your area that offer this service. You’ll find that they usually come from some sort of Fire Protection and Equipment Company where you will also be able to find other life saving equipment. Just remember that this is not an option, it is the law and every household, residents, flat, and any type of property where people sleep, should have one.
